Ketchikan MOtherhood Portraits
For the mom who is always the one behind the phone
You are in almost none of the photos.
You are the one holding the snacks, wiping faces, remembering the water bottle, fixing someone’s shoe, carrying half the day on your back, and somehow still ending up outside the frame. And when someone does take a photo of you with your children, it is usually blurry, badly timed, or missing half your head.
That is exactly why these sessions exist.
Short, warm, held in my Ketchikan studio. Soft natural light, no stiff posing, no matching outfits required. Just you and your little ones, together in the frame. The goal is not perfection. It is proof that you were here, that they were yours, that this season existed and you were part of it too.
Here is what makes me different from every other photographer you could book for this.
Before I picked up a camera professionally, I spent years working as a doula. I was in the room for births. I sat with families through the first hours, days, and weeks of new life, the raw, sleep-deprived stretch of early parenthood that most people only ever see from the outside.
I know what it feels like to hold a newborn who will not settle, to read the body language of a mom running on nothing, and to move quietly around a family without disturbing the fragile rhythm they are trying to find. I know how to position a baby so they feel secure in your arms and photograph beautifully. I know how to work with a toddler who has decided today is not the day. I know when to slow everything down because a mum needs a minute, and when to keep things moving because a baby is only going to be happy for the next eight minutes.
Most photographers are good with cameras. Not many of them have spent years being trusted in the room before the photos even begin.
So if you are worried you will feel awkward, or your baby will cry, or your toddler will refuse to cooperate, you are exactly the kind of family I expect. None of that is a problem. It is, genuinely, what I am built for.
You do not need to lose weight first. You do not need the perfect outfit. You do not need to wait until life feels calmer.
You just need to show up.
How it works
Small pop-up sessions on select dates in the studio, with only a handful of spots each time. If you want first access to the next round, join the list. (you don’t have to do that but it could make it more manageable for you to plan).
Want to be out in the world instead? Adventure Sessions are for families who want to be outside.
Oh Christina, I am crying. These are beautiful! You were great...patient and relaxed. The kids were tired and I was stressed from preparing and getting everyone ready...You made it all feel easy. You are so talented and I can’t wait to see the rest. Best picture experience!
