What to expect from an adventure photo session

Living in Ketchikan means daily life includes a spectacular backdrop—old-growth forest, rocky beaches, tidepools, and misty shorelines. An adventure session is built for local families who want active, fun photos that show how you live and play here, not staged studio portraits.

Sessions are relaxed and unhurried. I give simple prompts—walk together, explore a tidepool, sit on a log—so kids can be themselves and parents can relax. We work at your family’s pace: breaks, snacks, and babies are all part of the plan. The goal is real connection, doing something your family loves.

I’ll work with you to choose a location that is meaningful to your family - a local hike, your favorite beach, time out on the boat fishing and exploring our beautiful island coastline. While often wet, Ketchikan’s weather gives soft, even light that flatters skin tones and deepens the greens and blues of the landscape.

You’ll treasure having photos that feel like your everyday—play, hugs, curiosity, quiet moments. I encourage parents, especially moms, to be present in the moment and those images are the ones kids will cherish. Adventure sessions can even work for newborns, toddlers, and multigenerational families.

Dress for the weather and location. Wear layers and proper shoes. Bring snacks, a change of clothes for kids, and anything meaningful you want to include. We’ll plan the location and timing to fit your family’s needs.

If you’re local and ready to capture this season of your family’s life in a way that feels like home, reach out via the contact page to start planning.
